mid-month confessions

Y'all. I am SO excited for the return of mid-month confessions!! Elizabeth, over at Teaching Sam & Scout, used to do mid-week confessions that I linked up for a couple of times before her original blog shut down. Since starting at a new space and kind of rebranding herself, she's decided to get them going again, but once a month instead of once a week. AND she's partnered up with one of my best girls from Clemson, Heather! I'm really looking forward to this link-up each month!

- First, I have to say, today was just one of those days, so this might be brief.

- On Sunday, our youngest child, Ben (4 weeks) spit up straight into the mouth of our friend Geoff who was holding him. Yes, possibly more embarrassing for Geoff, but I felt terrible!

- When I wrote our family goals for 2015 on the blog, I purposefully left off one thing; brush Canon's teeth once a day. YES, I know. We're terrible and haven't quite worked it into our routines yet so it only happens about 75% of the time. On the same note, my college friends give me a hard time because we don't do a bath every night either.

- I told myself after I had the baby I'd quit sugar....yep, that was a month ago and I'm currently eating Nestle Flipz as I type.

- Since Ben has come we've started putting Canon to bed 30 minutes earlier just to give ourselves a few more minutes of quiet, not because he needs the extra sleep.

- I refuse to put the Facebook Messenger app on my phone. It just seems unreasonable to me that I need another FB app (also, all that stuff about the privacy, etc when it first came out made me not want to do it). However, I have probably 5 very legitimate messages that I need to respond to, but I never get on my computer to actually do it. Sorry friends!!

So, there ya go! My "less than perfect" life behind the screen. Feel free to link-up and share your real life confessions!

  1. So fun to have that little connection with both Heather and me! It really is a small world. I love your confessions - and, girl, you get a free pass for AT LEAST six weeks to eat/do whatever you want after you have a baby. I'm totally planning to milk that time for all its worth - so you eat those Flipz and enjoy! Also, we aren't good at teeth brushing either. Terrible, but true.

  2. Okay not gonna lie, I am super pumped about reading your confessions every month because you are so funny. I love reading your posts! And I totally agree with E- I ate WAY more after Ryan was born than I ever did when I was pregnant, so the though of cutting anything out, especially sugar, sounds like a terrible idea. But then again I'm not sure how I would get my coffee down in the morning without it considering the embarrassing amount that goes in to each cup. Pick your battles my friend. Or find a more encouraging friend- one. ;)

  3. Hi! Stopping by from the link-up.

We put our son to bed early on Sundays. The best decision ever! ;)

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
