blog reading

It is no secret that I follow a lot of blogs. A lot. While I do love home improvement, DIY and design blogs, I really enjoy those blogs that chronicle the daily lives of women with kids. Not really a surprise there, since that is my life. Up until tonight, I've used Google Reader to read all my blogs. It was great because I could just open up Reader and read them all on one page. However, Google Reader is not going to be available starting soon. Most of the blogs I read have suggested using Bloglovin' to keep up with them. So, tonight, I'm making the switch. Some of my favorites are listed on the right. And if you are so inclined, you can follow mine as well. Follow my blog with Bloglovin

6 months!

 Y'all. I seriously can not believe it has been 6 months. This kid is SO big. Just in the last 2 weeks have we really seen some big changes. I'm just going to list them out: he has two bottom teeth! they have cut through the gums, but they aren't all the way up yet he is rolling over back to tummy, tummy to back constantly ! he is sleeping unswaddled he, most nights, goes without a bottle! he just started, as in did it twice yesterday, lifting his hands when he wants to be picked up he leans into me to give me hugs, reaches for me and buries his head in my neck/shoulder. it is a dream! he eats solid foods in the morning and evening now he rolled over onto his tummy last night and woke himself up and he was not happy about it he puts himself to sleep really well...after a book I just lay him in his crib and he falls asleep he has started playing in his crib, with his feet, with his pacifier, just looking out, it is so cute! He is so great. These are a lot

1/2 way there!

  I am very proud of myself that I have completed half of the couch-to-5k program I am doing!! Yahoo. It might sound crazy, but I'm going to try and do the next 4 weeks in less than that time, hoping to do 5 days/week instead of 3. I'm ready to have some endurance and just be able to run 3 miles straight (and then hopefully more!) Also, as we've been trying to eat Paleo for dinners, I thought I'd post some recipes that we have been trying and enjoying. Hope you enjoy them, too!  Salmon with Chery Tomato Salsa and Asparagus    Olive, Garlic and Lemon Chicken   Bacon and Spinach Stuffed Chicken Pineapple Stuffed Burgers   Garlic Cauliflower "Mashed Potatoes" We've also been making a lot of "Garlic Chicken". I just coat boneless-skinless chicken breast in generous portions of salt, pepper and garlic powder, then saute in a little bit of butter. We probably have eaten this at least 5 times in

a week in the life {wednesday & thursday}

Wednesday 6:20am - I get up and get ready for the day. It is SUPER early, but today I am working at St. John's Lutheran Early Learning Center and I have to be there at 8am. 7:00am - I go in and wake Canon up, give him a bottle, get him ready. He definitely could have slept more, but such is life. 7:35am - 5:00pm - Canon is at Daycare.  They tell me he did really well and was happy! He took 3 naps while he was there, ranging from 50 minutes to 1hr and 15min. Not quite as well as he does at home, but that is to be expected. 8:00am-4:00pm - I work in the 4 year-old PreK classroom at St. John's. It was super fun, again, and I am glad that I am doing it. I leave at 4:00 and go pick Aaron up from school before heading to get Canon from daycare. 5:15pm - We take a nice family walk around the neighborhood. When we get back Canon is in the same situation where he won't take a nap, but is tired, so we give him a bottle and try to keep him up until at least 6. 6:20 -

a week in the life {tuesday}

Today was a different day for us, as we went to Redeemer so I could substitute for the 3/4 Grade class. I brought Canon with me, but if I have to sub again, we'll definitely be dropping him off at Daycare! 7:20am - I get up and get ready for the day. I'm able to get coffee, breakfast and do a little Facebooking before Canon wakes up. 8:00am - Canon wakes up. He gets a bottle and some mashed up bananas in his high chair. I give him a bath and get him ready for the day, though I should have left him in his pajamas! By the time he goes down for his first nap, I have to change his clothes due to spit-up and drool! 8:30-9:30am - Tuesdays is when I try to give the apartment a good clean, so Canon plays on his map and in his high chair while I put away clean dishes, pick up clothes, etc. He has a great time watching the washing machine! 9:30 - 11:00am - Canon naps and I get ready for the day. I even find some time to catch up on the blogs I read. 11:00am - I have to

a week in the life...

I've seen this series on a few blogs that I read and thought now would be a good time to do the same. Canon is 6 months today and I thought it would be fun to document what his schedule is at this age and what are life is like. I already know that this week is a particularly busy week, but that will be more fun for y'all! So, here goes! Monday 7am - I get myself out of bed after hitting snooze a few times. I'm not sure how long Canon will stay asleep (he woke up quite a few times last night!) so I'm hoping to get at least a shower and coffee in before he wakes up. Lucky for me, I was able to get completely ready, have my coffee and breakfast and even get our dinner, Chicken Enchilada Stew, together in the crock-pot. Definitely a good start to my day! 8:10am - Canon wakes up. I go in and he is all smiles. He drinks a bottle and I get him ready for the day. 9am - We're headed to work. We have to take a lot of stuff wherever we go! 9:15-12:30 - We
