3 weeks

I can definitely tell that he has gotten bigger this week! I see it mostly in his head, feeling the weight of it when I pick him up and also seeing those cheeks fill in! We happened to be at the pediatrician today and he weighed in at 9lbs even! That is a gain of 1/2 a pound in a week! We're so proud. We were on our own starting last Thursday and I have to say it went well! We took it really easy Friday and Saturday and he stayed strong in his 3-31/2 hour period between feedings. We took him to church for the first time on Sunday and we even went to work for about 2 hours on Monday! We did have a really rough night on Sunday, waking up every hour and being super restless in his swaddle, but I'm hopeful that was just a one night situation. Last night was better, with about 2 1/2 hours in between each feeding, so I'm hoping he'll be back on track tonight. We were super spoiled the first 3 weeks when he literally slept and ate the entire time. Now he is starting to

2 weeks

Well, I am 2 days late on this week's photo, but hopefully that won't be the pattern. Canon turned 2 weeks this past Tuesday, and it was one crazy day. My sister flew into town early in the morning, then my mom flew out that afternoon. He was a champ and did both long car rides super well. It helped that he had people doting over him the entire time! This week's picture was taken a little bit in a rush, but he has definitely gotten bigger! (don't mind that he looks purple, he has great skin in real life!) We had his 2 week appointment this past Monday. He came in at 21 1/2 inches, which is the 80th percentile and 8lbs 8.5oz, which is above birth weight and the 50th percentile. Yay! Above birth weight means I get to stop waking him up every 3 hours to eat and can let him sleep until he is hungry! On his own he is going about every 3 1/2 hours, which is awesome. We're still trying to figure out the night sleeping, when he'll give me a long stretch, yet

1 week

Yep, I'm also copying the Weekly Photo Project from one of my favorite blogs, YoungHouseLove . Each week, I hope to take a photo of little man in a white onesie (the same one if I can remember) with a fun fabric behind him. Hopefully this will let us see how big he is getting! This week's "fabric" is a blanket that was made for Canon by a great friend of mine from Clemson. We absolutely love it. Thanks Lauren! This first week has been really slow and really fast all at the same time! I can't believe that this time last week he was still inside me! So far, he has been super easy. The first two nights at home he had some fits that took a little while to settle down, but since then, the last 3 nights, have been great. He sleeps most of the day and night and we're at the point that we're trying to keep him up a little during the day and trying to get some good 4+ hour stretches at night. Got to start those patterns early! I'm feeling good, though I

Canon Andrew Schultz

Introducing... Canon Andrew Schultz 9.4.12 8lb 2oz 21 in We are SO glad he is finally here! It was a long wait, but totally worth it! So far he has been a dream. He is super calm and laid back and sleeps a lot! A little about his name...we picked it out months ago. The Canon, which is a term to describe the books that are accepted as Scripture, is a term that I've heard over the years in classes and I always just loved it. When I offered it up to Aaron, he agreed! We love that it is biblical, but not. Aaron keeps saying he expects two things from him - 1) that he will be founded in the Lord and 2) that he'll have a "canon" of an arm!!  We thank you all for bearing with us as we kept it a secret and for the encouraging words we've heard about it so far. I can't wait to see who "Can-the-Man" will grow up to be! I'll be back on Tuesday/Wednesday with a 1 week update and hopefully get our birth story written out in the near fut
