because of Casey...the story of how I met Jimmy Fallon

Last Monday and Tuesday, my sister, mom and I had the pleasure  of driving to New York to spend time with my sister's best friend, Casey. And when I say "sister's best friend", I mean, I don't have memories without Casey in them they've been best friends for so long. Her family is the family we have done holidays and vacations with forever and they really are an extension of our family. Casey is an actress and was in New York publicizing her new show, Marry Me, which airs at 9pm on NBC. If you haven't already, set your TVs & DVRs to watch her, especially tonight since this is the week the ratings really count!! The show premiered last Tuesday, so she was scheduled for Jimmy Fallon on Monday afternoon, then the Today Show on Tuesday morning before she was flying back to LA. There was a "prop" she used for Fallon that she needed from her dad's in Alexandria, so we were more than glad to load it into Amanda's car and head out!

Airplanes + Pumpkins

My dad was in town last weekend, so we took the opportunity to visit the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. It is a Smithsonian Museum that was built semi-recently and since we had all visited the one in DC and none of us had been to this one, it was an easy decision. It was super cool, even for someone like me who doesn't know a lot of history or anything about airplanes. This is the same model of plane my Grandpa flew in WWII as a Marine The Discovery Space Shuttle  The Enola Gay, which is the aircraft that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima On Sunday we all took super long naps, then headed to a local pumpkin "patch" to take our #basicwhitegirl fall photos! Canon loved running around, picking up pumpkins and telling us how heavy they were! I still have hopes of getting to an actual farm or festival before the month ends (with my real camera!)

Guest Post on Teaching Sam & Scout

I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in E's series, 31 Days of Making It Work As a Working Mom.  Go on over there to check out how I, and many other women, balance working outside the home and having kids. For those who might be clicking over from there, Welcome! Here is a little about me: My husband and I met (and were married in less than a year!) in New Orleans, January 2011 In August 2011 we moved to Denver and that is where we had our first son, Canon, September 2012 In August 2013 we moved to Alexandria, VA - my hometown! Aaron is a middle school teacher at a small classical Christian school and I work part-time for both a church and a campus ministry at George Mason University We are expecting boy #2 in December! You can read about our Gender Reveal here ! Even though I said I'd "never move back home", I'm having a blast discovering this city as a wife and mom and I am so glad to be close to friends a

Life Lately

I was out of town last week and Aaron was out of town the weekend before that, both for weddings, so we did a lot of texting back and forth, especially videos and pictures of Canon. Here are a few that were special (?) enough to share - and some that I just liked! Missing Daddy Saturday with Mama - IHOP and soccer While Aaron was in CA being the best man in Uncle Morgan's wedding  For some reason, I decided I could go grocery shopping solo. It obviously ended well for Canon! Soccer while Mama was in GA Dancing with Avery at the ILS Octoberfest Lunch at Ms. B's
