Perfect Fall Morning

Saturday mornings used to be for sleeping in, College Gameday and football all day long. Not so much anymore! Knowing we didn't want to spend the entire morning inside and feeling the excitement of Fall rolling in (at least in the blog world if not in the actual temperatures) we made a spur of the moment decision to go visit a local farm! It was so much fun and I wouldn't be surprised if we went back before the season is over!  I got some cute video of all the slides, but I'm blogging via my phone right now so they'll have to wait! It's so fun to have a child and re-experience life through his eyes!! We're making ourselves a Fall Weekend Bucket List to be sure we soak up all the fun this season! And of course we got home in time to watch Clemson's win over Wake! Go Tigers!!!  Happy Fall Y'all!!

I got a J-O-B!

I am very please to announce that I am now employed! And as has been the theme of these past few months, it was not what I set out to do, but I am so happy! I am now the Lead AM Teacher for the older 2 year-old class at Bright Start Learning Center! Though I graduated Clemson with a degree in Early Childhood Education and have been in and out of schools in many different settings, I've never had my own class! To say I'm not a little nervous or intimidated would be a lie, but I'm more excited than anything else. It is a relief to have the job search over and I can't say enough how happy that it landed in this (unexpected) place! When I first started job searching, I was going specifically for church or school administration - admissions, secretary, assistant director, etc. Having come off a year and a half of administrative work at K-Life, which I loved, I thought it would be a great fit. I had one interview with an international adoption agency that I was really ex

Canon's First Birthday Party

We had a fabulous day celebrating our sweet bug! It was a low-key party with good family friends and some of the staff from Aaron's school. We were super lucky to have Canon's Godmother, Kim, fly in from New Orleans and another of our favorite New Orleans friends, Rebecca, drive up from her new home in Harrisonburg! We are so grateful for the people that love Canon and were able to celebrate with us! Thanks Kim for taking these pictures!    Happy Birthday Sweet Boy! We love you and we love being your parents! Thank you for being such an easy, joyful, laid-back baby! We've got his 1 year appointment on the 26th so I'll share his stats then, and I have a ton more fun photos of the weekend to share later!

5 on Friday

I'm finally linking up with some of my favorite bloggers for their 5 on Friday series. Make sure to check out A. Liz Adventures , Carolina Charm , Hello!Happiness and The Good Life Blog , they are fantastic women and I super enjoy reading about their lives. ONE - Wednesday was The Can-Man's first birthday! I'm not even ready to talk about how this happened...where did my baby go?!? We had a great day, playing in his new water table, setting up his new car seat, eating out and he got a cupcake from Buzz to celebrate! TWO - I know I am late to this game, but seriously. I watched the entire first and second season on Netflix last week. It is so good. Not sure I needed to rush through it considering I have to wait a whole month until Season 3, but I couldn't help myself! Aaron, however, is very glad I'm not glued to my phone anymore! THREE - Clemson Football is BACK! To say we were excited for Saturday's Game, and WIN, against G

a quick trip to c-ville

One of the reasons I was so excited to move back home was to be close to my sister and her family as well as Katherine and her family! My sister is in Charlottesville, which is about a 2.5 hour drive, and Katherine is only 30 minutes from her! I am one lucky girl. The start of school for my sister meant that their house was empty during the days, so Aaron, Canon and I took full advantage of that, as well as their one-floor layout! We went down last Tuesday and stayed til Thursday. It was great to spend time with them and Canon absolutely loves his Cousin Cole. Cole loves him too, and on Wednesday night said (with no prompting) "Baby Canon is my best friend!" Melt.My.Heart. I'm looking forward to lots more memories of these two! The perfect front yard, complete with a swing!   Cole's train table, which may have provided more entertainment for Aaron! I wish I had a picture, but really, Canon stood at this table almost the entire time playing. There were so

life in Alexandria

We've been here almost exactly 1 month and this is what we've been up to (according to the iPhone) Canon got a walker...and he has been pretty good in using it too! The best BBQ in Alexandria...shipped in from North Carolina! A must-have. We went to the Giants v Nationals game in DC! A walk and playtime in Beverly Hills with our friends from NOLA! What it looks like in MoMo's house...always climbing the stairs and always a mess! A fun Saturday around Del Ray with Em!   Needless to say, we've settled into our neighborhoods pretty well! We take a LOT of walks on the Potomac and into Old Town, a lot of walks in Del Ray and are hoping not to spend all our money trying all the new restaurants that have popped up since I last lived here! Next up, cute pics from our few days in Charlottesville visiting Cousin Cole and Little Miss Caroline Hawkins !

Atlantic Beach

A week after Canon and I arrived to VA, we packed up the car with MoMo (my mom), met my sister and her son in Richmond and ventured down to Atlantic Beach, NC to stay with my Aunt. Though we had just barely moved everything into my mom's house, the few days at the beach were so relaxing and fun! Just add that to the reasons why I'm so glad we moved back! It was Canon's first time at the beach, and y'all, the kid LOVED it. He laughed, grunted, and giggled the entire time! He wanted to be in the water constantly. He also loved watching his cousin Cole all week, grabbing whatever toys he was playing with and crawling after him throughout the house. He is so lucky to have such a great role model. And sweet, sweet Cole was the best. He would run up and give Canon hugs and kisses without any prompting from us! Can't wait to get those two together all the time!   And
