summer 2013 - may & june

spill about your LOVE link-up

I'm linking up with A. Liz Adventures today for this fun little questionnaire!  {1} Describe your dating life prior to finding your husband/boyfriend/fiance. I had 2 serious relationships before meeting Aaron, one in high school (as serious as that can be, ha!) and one in college. Before meeting Aaron, I had been single for about 3 1/2 years. {2} Describe your husband/boyfriend/fiance in one word. How would he describe you in one word?   The word I always use to describe Aaron is steady. He is the calm to my crazy. Also, is faith is the most consistent and steadfast I've ever seen. He says to describe me in 1 word is too hard.  {3} You had a really silly fight. Embarrassing silly. What was it about? Our most frequent fight is over the dishes. And that seems silly to me.  {4} In three sentences (and only three!), describe where you both hope to be in 5 years. Surrounded by family and friends, probably with another child, in a house with a front porch

Pool Day!

Last Wednesday we got to go over to our great friend Julie's apartment pool! It was Canon's first time in the pool and though it took him a little while to figure it out, he ended up loving it! Here are the many pictures that I actually took with my nice camera! Yay summer! Our friend Lisa was there too! Here's a little video with both of them.

Canon Crawls!

Canon crawled today!! I'd been trying to get it on video all afternoon, and I finally was able to catch him! Yes, it was only a few steps, but I'm sure he'll be cruising in no time! He is 9 1/2 months old.

video monitor

So, this week, we bought ourselves a video monitor....and I love it! We actually hadn't even been using our regular monitor for quite a few months now since Canon has been sleeping through the night and our rooms are so close I always hear him when he cries. However, the past few weeks, since he figured out how to sit up in his crib, he has started not crying when he wakes up. He just sits himself up and plays with his little blankets, pacifiers and the bumper. We quickly realized that even though he wasn't making loud enough sounds until 8:30am, he had most likely been up for waaaaay longer than that! And he was doing it at naptime too! I felt so bad, thinking of him sitting in his crib all alone awake, even though he seemed to be having himself a great time. So, we bought a video monitor. I did a little bit of research on some blogs I follow and Target's website reviews, and we landed on the Motorola Digital 2.8" Video Monitor. It was nicely mid-priced and had t

5 Things That Make My Life Easier

I saw this as a post on Babycenter.com and thought it would make a great blog post as well! 1. Sleep Routine - Having a routine and certain cues for Canon's nap and bedtimes is awesome. We do the same thing mostly every day and definitely every night and he goes to sleep so easily! Currently, our nighttime routine includes a bath, bottle and bed. He has a sound machine that plays water/white noise and he loves curling up with his pacifier and his bear blanket in the crib! 2. Public Transportation - We only have 1 car, so the bus has been a life-saver this year. We typically trade off who takes the bus to work, but it has been SO easy to use and I'm so glad Denver has made an effort to have non-sketchy public transportation! 3. Meal Planning - I'll be the first to admit, we're not super great at this, but as we're realizing how much of a difference it really does make, we're making it a priority! We try to plan 2-3 meals a week that we can have twice and th
