22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up

Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along!
We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me tell you, by last Thursday night, he had me wrapped around his finger! That night, each time he cried and I went in, his face lit up, he was smiling, kicking and ready to play! He definitely knew he was playing me! Well, I put an end to that. Friday night I only went in to feed him and he was fine! He cried a little, but it didn't take him long to remember he knew how to put himself back to sleep. And I feel like a new woman after not getting up every hour! Since then we've had a great stretch of long sleeps which couldn't make this mama happier!
Things that I have noticed in the past couple of weeks is that he is getting so good at grabbing things and putting them into his mouth! Everything goes straight to his mouth, whether its a board book, his pacifier or a fuzzy stuffed animal! He is working really hard on getting the pacifier into this mouth the right way too! Most of the time he ends up gnawing on the outside of it. He is getting SO close to being able to roll from his tummy to his back. He has done it a few times, but each time I set him up and have my camera out, he won't. Figures. I'd say right now it is accidental, but hopefully in the next week he'll really do purposefully.

I'm really enjoying being a stay at home mom these past two weeks. We've got an awesome routine going on and I love getting to spend time with him! The weather has been nice and we just got a jogging stroller, so that has definitely helped too! I'm back on the C25K program and so far I've completed 2 days, haha. Last time I got to week 4 and I'm really hoping to complete it this time! I've also been more committed to my resolutions. We've been outside everyday with the help of our new stroller and working out 3x/week is looking possible! I've been reading Jesus Calling in the mornings and its so good. Seriously, you should buy it.

Anyway, this was a long post. Guess I had more to say than just ohmygoodnessican'tbelievemybabyisalmost6monthsold!

see ya next week!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
