Canon's 2nd Birthday Party

We had the best time celebrating Canon's 2nd Birthday! Before Aaron and I had really even started discussing birthday plans, Aaron got the idea to use Canon's birthday as an excuse to host a Flag Football Game. (Lucky for Canon, his birthday falls right around the kick-off of football season, so I have a feeling this won't be the only football themed party in his life!)
I wanted to be sure we had enough entertainment for those who were bringing kids, so I found a park in Old Town with a large field and a two-story playground. Though it rained all.day.long, the sun finally peaked out about an hour before "kick-off" and we had a great time! We are so grateful to all our friends who came to celebrate and play with us!
The party-prep was pretty easy, though probably not Pinterest worthy! We picked up table cloths, napkins, balloons, etc from Party City that went along with our football theme. I got a vegetable tray, fruit tray, chips, water and cupcakes from the grocery store and we ordered 8 large pizzas. In lieu of presents, our friends added to the mix with snacks and beer! Simple, but easy and fun.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR BIG BOY!

Also to be noted, we transitioned Canon to a toddler bed on Saturday night. I'm documenting the whole experience day by day for this first week to post next week. We've had 2 awesome nights, and last night was a struggle. Let's hope it gets better!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd

Arise Campus Ministry 9.23.14

Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to be part of some awesome ministries. From time to time, I've been given the chance to speak and I wanted a place to keep those files. Here is where I'll post my talks, Bible Studies, etc that I'm either doing or creating.  Arise Campus Ministry at George Mason University 9.23.2014 This week I want to tell y’all a little about my story, because the word “belonging” is extremely significant in it. I came to Christ at the end of middle school – which for me were terrible years. Think about all the stereotypes of mean girls and being made fun of and left out, and that is my story. It all really fell apart for me at the beginning of my 9 th  grade year when every girl I had left middle school fighting to maintain a friendship with completely ignored me. I had a peripheral friendship with a girl who was a church goer and accepted her invitation to become part of their youth group. I had been on and off, but nev

February Goals

Happy February! I'm joining Elizabeth and Sarah to talk about B+ Goals for the month! I am loving the idea of setting up some attainable goals for each month, but also giving myself grace for meeting or not meeting them. This year I am focusing on my Physical and Spiritual Health. First, a quick review of January's Goals. January Physical Health Goals : * hit my 10,000 steps 4 days of the week (I work a desk job, so this means I'll have to do some extra walking either before or after work) * track my food  January Spiritual Health Goals :  * read Simply Tuesday by Emily P Freeman * start my day with Jesus Calling and First 5 App   As my husband would say, I won more days than I lost in January! My fitbit broke 3 weeks into January, so the last week and some I wasn't able to track, but I did get to the gym to run a few times without it. I also tracked more food than I didn't and the days we were at work I did really well staying w
