#soccermom

Canon had his first soccer "practice" this past Saturday! We signed up him for a 6-week tots class put on by Alexandria Soccer Association. Canon has always loved soccer and loves to kick a ball, so I thought it would be a really fun way to get us out of the house on Saturday mornings before football comes on.
It was about as chaotic as you can imagine to have 10 (?) kids, parents and a coach running around, but everyone did a great job. There were some kids who paid really close attention and followed all the directions and those who just ran around to their own whim the whole time. Canon fell right in the middle. I was really proud of the way he followed his coach (with our help), but I could tell by the end he just wanted to do his own thing. They had warm-ups, then did some "dribbling" skills, and ended with quite a few games including building towers with blocks and kicking their balls to knock it over. I spent the entire time smiling and laughing while Aaron and I alternated taking pictures and helping Canon. Our good friends' the Works came and their son Parker also helped keep Canon on track.

I'm hoping this is the beginning of a looooong career of being a #soccermom. (or football, swimming, dance, choir, band, etc) Now I just need a minivan!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
