Tweetsie Railroad Weekend

**for those that keep up - I changed the web address to wellbeintouchblog.blogspot.com** Last weekend we had the best time meeting up with friends in Blowing Rock, NC to go to Tweetsie Railroad! Tweetsie is a steam train theme park that has an old real working steam train along with lots of other amusement/carnival style rides for kids and adults! We met up with the Hawkins and Simoneauxs and had 6 kids between us! We all have kids within 8 months of each other, so it was really fun to get to hang out with the girls, talk mom stuff and watch our kids become friends! I am sure there will be many more trips like this in the future!  We left Friday morning and did really well, we took a long stop around Lexington, VA and the kids were very happy to be out of the car.   We saw App State's campus in Boone before heading into downtown Blowing Rock to meet up with everyone for dinner. For 6 kids who had all been in the car for a while, they did so...

Lots of Changes!!

I am so far behind on life, but there have been 2 big things that I can at least blame it on! 1 - We moved!!! Since Ben we knew that we would quickly be outgrowing our 808 sq. foot apartment. It didn't take me long to decide the next neighborhood I wanted to live, and after going to a few different open houses in the early spring to get a feel for their size/layout/options, I settled on Park Fairfax, a large town home/condo neighborhood about 2 miles from our current place. We were able to find a corner unit WITH a walkout to a back patio in the best little courtyard. We have no one above or below us and lots of big trees around us! We moved in last weekend and while it was a whirlwind, we are SO glad. We're still renting, but we get access to 3 pools, tennis courts, a car wash and we're in walking distance from shops/restaurants. We're really lucky that the last tenant left her patio table, umbrella and chairs, so we've been enjoying lots of meals outside! 2 - ...

My Rodan+Fields Wishlist

Now that I have been using these amazing products for 2 months, I thought I would highlight what I've already been using and what is on my wishlist! 1 - SOOTHE regimen  - I've choose this regimen to begin because of the redness in my skin tone. I could tell from the first night that I made the right choice! I honestly never knew that my skin could feel  so much better - as in tighter, firmer and smoother! Love this. 2 - Micro-dermabrasion Paste  - I've been using this paste a lot! I've used it in place of SOOTHE step 1 at night to give myself an at-home facial! I just recently used it to get some dead skin off my feet and of course, before applying the sunless tanner! I was most impressed by how smooth my feet were without even using moisturizer! I love that I can give myself spa treatments without paying the price for them! 3 - Essentials Lip Shield - I have a thing for lip moisturizer, and this one is never far. I love it so much I've given all my oth...

the playground

We've started a semi-regular routine of going the school playground on Thursday afternoons and I love it. Since I get off work early, I pick up the boys immediately after nap time and hurry down to meet all the moms and kids who have just gotten out of school. We always end up "closing down the playground" with our friend Kara and her 4 kids and stay until at least 5. Today was another glorious day and I finally remembered to take some pics! Come and join us!

Ben - 4 months

Weight:  16.9lbs - 75th%ile Eating:  I'd guess we're at about 40/60 breastmilk/formula. He nurses in the mornings, sometimes, and sometimes gets formula. Then 2 bottles of breastmilk and 1 bottle of formula at daycare, each about 6oz. Then he gets 6-8oz of formula before bed. He has finally started only nursing once at night!  Sleeping:  With the exception of a few nights, we're getting into a new rhythm! Bottle, swaddle, rocking at 6:30/7:00, then into the crib drowsy, but awake. On a good night, we won't hear from him until between 2 and 4, when I nurse him, then he'll sleep until 7! We've had to let him cry it out a little this month, but he's done pretty well putting himself back to sleep! He is taking 2 naps at daycare, 9am and 1:45pm and sometimes sleeps on the way home around 4:30pm. The big change this month has been no swaddling!  Our daycare provider, Ms. B, started getting worried that he was going to roll over so she decided to keep him unswaddle...

Easter 2015

We had such a great day! We went to church, did the Egg hunt and had an eventful afternoon at our unofficial church's after party! It was a great day to celebrate with family and friends. And as Canon would say, we celebrated that "Jesus rose from the boat!" There's a good chance he is a little obsessed with Noah's Ark right now :) Here are the pictures!   He got a new football in his Easter basket!  After an afternoon of running through a not-yet-cleaned-for-the-summer fountain, this is what he looked like about .2 seconds into our ride home. Love this kid! And for comparison's sake, here is a look at previous years!  2013  2014 2015   I seriously can't believe how much he has grown in the last year! Look at those long legs!  The day after Easter, Aaron and I both had off work, so we were lucky enough to go to  the Nationals Opening Day!!!  (Sweet Ben gets his time t...
