Ben - 4 months

Weight: 16.9lbs - 75th%ile

Eating: I'd guess we're at about 40/60 breastmilk/formula. He nurses in the mornings, sometimes, and sometimes gets formula. Then 2 bottles of breastmilk and 1 bottle of formula at daycare, each about 6oz. Then he gets 6-8oz of formula before bed. He has finally started only nursing once at night!

Sleeping: With the exception of a few nights, we're getting into a new rhythm! Bottle, swaddle, rocking at 6:30/7:00, then into the crib drowsy, but awake. On a good night, we won't hear from him until between 2 and 4, when I nurse him, then he'll sleep until 7! We've had to let him cry it out a little this month, but he's done pretty well putting himself back to sleep! He is taking 2 naps at daycare, 9am and 1:45pm and sometimes sleeps on the way home around 4:30pm. The big change this month has been no swaddling! Our daycare provider, Ms. B, started getting worried that he was going to roll over so she decided to keep him unswaddled during naps about 2 weeks ago. When he hit 4 months, I knew we were facing a regression anyway, so we just went with it at night too! Full on, both arms out, in a sleep sack. There were definitely a few rough nights, but we pushed through and he is finally getting control of those arms!

Clothes: 6-9! He just keeps on growing! It is so bittersweet to be switching out clothes! We are lucky to have gotten some newer hand me downs from friends this time and I'm loving them!

Likes: People! Smiling and giggling. Starting to grab onto the animals on his activity mat. Discovered his feet!

Dislikes: Being left in a room alone!

Doing: First Easter, first baseball game (Nationals Opening day), watching Canon play at the park, rolling from tummy to back, rolling from back to side, sleeping unswaddled. Possibly teething!!! Sitting in the high chair at an incline and grabbing at the Oball.

On Managing Two: Canon can now get baby Ben to laugh! Tag teaming bedtime, though Aaron and Canon love to come in and wrestle loudly in our room as I am giving Ben his bedtime bottle. Went to Target alone with both of them three times last week! Canon likes to say "Mama hold my two boys" and climb on my lap with Ben!

Myself: Maintaining at this point. The weather certainly helps be in good spirits, but some days are still just hard getting to and from home. Utilizing the reminder apps and notes on my phone much more these days to remember things! However, I am LOVING our community hear, developing some great family relationships and enjoying our church!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
