Weekend in Wilmington

This past weekend I took the boys on a solo trip to visit Meg, Chris and Avery in Wilmington, NC! It was a looooong drive down on Friday evening (about 7 hours total), but it was totally worth it.

These sweet boys. I can't blame them for their behavior on that long drive, but they were both very happy to be stretched out to sleep once we got there.

Meg, Chris and Avery lived in the apartment right next door to us for a year and a half. Avery was 10ish weeks when we moved in and Canon was 14 months. It was the best. Just like in college, we would knock on each other's doors to just hang out and have each other over for impromptu play dates and meals. Meg saw me at my best and worst, as well as my apartment at its best and worst. She was there when I found out I was pregnant with Ben and was the first one to see him when we got home from the hospital. Friendships are so hard to build out of college because you have to plan for them - I can't say enough about what a BLESSING it was to have someone there all the time to hang out with!

So, we woke up Saturday morning and lazily had some breakfast and coffee before heading out. After quick stop to Avery's preschool's fall festival (which turned out to be a craft bazaar complete with "attic treasures! haha) we headed down to the docks to meet up with her parents. We were so lucky that the weather was amazing on Saturday - sunny and warm enough to go out on the boat! We had the best time splashing around and finding crabs, sticks and treasures in the sand. Peach and Pop, Meg's parents, were so nice to take us out and play with our kids!

We rested up during afternoon naps, watched a little Clemson football (GO TIGERS! #1) and then headed out to dinner at Oceanic restaurant. We sat on the dock, there was live music, Peach and Pop joined us again, and the food/wine was fantastic. It was the best evening. So relaxing.
Sunday we went to Port City Community Church with them and again, had the best time. What a great place. The sermon spoke strongly and I'm awaiting the recording to come out so I can take some notes.

I am so grateful for Meg's friendship and the time we got to spend together. We picked up right where we left off and it hardly seemed like it had been 9 months. It is so refreshing to have a friend to share the ins and outs life because we were actually doing life together. I love you friend and can't wait to be back!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
