Ben - 2 months

Weight: 13.8 lbs! 81st %

Eating: Still breastfeeding! Got rid of "Moms on Call" and went to a more manageable/natural schedule. He eats around 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm. Then has been recently waking up to eat twice at night.

Sleeping: Weeks 6-8 were rough. We were dealing with the moving around, gurgling, choking noises. Then both boys got a big of a head cold, so Ben was waking up way more with congestion and it seemed like the only thing he wanted was to nurse. That led us to one night at about 8 weeks waking up and nursing every 1.5 hours. I was pretty done at that point. Our plan was to have Aaron get him settled on the "non-eating" wake-ups, and that worked pretty well. Then our pediatrician, at his 2 month appointment, strongly encouraged us to get him out of our room and let him cry a little to see if he really need to wake up or could just go back to sleep. Since then, it's been a much more pleasant experience. I nurse him to sleep around 7:20 and lay him in our bed by 8pm. I go to bed between 9-10 and then Aaron moves him whenever he comes in out to the pack n play in the living room. He wakes up usually around 1:30 and 4:00. Naps are also hit and miss, he's got about an hour of "wake time" before he needs to go back down, and then ranges between 30 minutes and 2 hours!

Clothes: We're inching our way fast out of the 3 month, some of our sleepers are already needing to be replaced!

Likes: Being held, laying under his activity mat and his big brother! His new activity bouncer seat. Looking around and smiling!!

Dislikes: The car.

Doing: This month was more of the same - ILS chapel, getting out to lunches with MoMo, monthly ILC women's fellowship group. He met his Godparents - Katherine and Jay! Also, on February 23rd, I started back to work, so now he is doing daycare at Ms. B's with Canon.

On Managing Two: Its hard. I found myself getting frustrated more quickly this past month. Now that Ben is a little more alert, Canon has been paying him more attention. It is super cute, but I also have to monitor their interactions a lot more closely! Aaron has been the brave one, taking them both out to Target and Chickfila by himself!

Myself: I got into a great groove being at home with Ben. I finally, in the last 2 weeks, let go a little of the "schedule" I wanted him to be on and of him sleeping at home instead of in the car or somewhere else. We had a great last 2 weeks of maternity leave and I was very, very sad to see it end this morning! While I am kind of glad to have the pressure off me to control his every second (pressure that I put on myself!) of every day, I am missing him terribly!  I am feeling better about my post pregnancy body - even buying some new clothes and going out in my pre-pregnancy jeans! I still have some lbs to lose, but its working in the right direction! And much faster than it did with Canon!

Meeting Katherine!

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...
