3 weeks

I can definitely tell that he has gotten bigger this week! I see it mostly in his head, feeling the weight of it when I pick him up and also seeing those cheeks fill in! We happened to be at the pediatrician today and he weighed in at 9lbs even! That is a gain of 1/2 a pound in a week! We're so proud.

We were on our own starting last Thursday and I have to say it went well! We took it really easy Friday and Saturday and he stayed strong in his 3-31/2 hour period between feedings. We took him to church for the first time on Sunday and we even went to work for about 2 hours on Monday! We did have a really rough night on Sunday, waking up every hour and being super restless in his swaddle, but I'm hopeful that was just a one night situation. Last night was better, with about 2 1/2 hours in between each feeding, so I'm hoping he'll be back on track tonight.

We were super spoiled the first 3 weeks when he literally slept and ate the entire time. Now he is starting to "wake up" a little more. I admit, it is a little bit of an adjustment for me since I had been expecting him to just go right back to sleep, but I'm working on it. My sister recommended us reading "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby" so I've been really uptight about the amount of sleep he should be getting. Hopefully as he begins to be awake more and more over the next months I'll be able to roll with it.

I can't believe that in just one week he'll be 4 weeks, and that next Thursday he'll be one month! It seems like it has gone by so quickly, yet its been so long at the same time. You understand.

This coming week is a big one! Aaron's parents, aunt, cousin, sister and her baby all fly in on Thursday. They are all here until Monday, with Aaron's mom staying til the following Thursday. My dad is also coming in on Saturday because on Sunday we're getting Canon baptized! So, lots of people and lots of fun things happening. I'll definitely have more pictures for next week.

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
