We'll Be In Touch

The countdown is on....well, let's be honest, it has been on! Only 17 more days til this little one's due date! Overall, I am feeling pretty good. We went to the doctor this past Tuesday and confirmed that this boy is still carrying super high, so much so they thought he might be breech! But after a quick ultrasound that suspicion was thrown out, thankfully! He just hasn't dropped yet. And as much as I'd love to get this little guy out into the world and meet him, we're not quite ready yet. I've got lists going of what we still need to do in the house and what we still need to buy. I'm telling you, this nesting instinct is real! We did paint last weekend, which has really made a huge difference! I took a few pictures with my phone of what we've got going on so far in the nursery that I thought would be fun to share!  I got this dresser from someone's lawn about a year ago. I kind of figured that July was going to be a slow month for us. I started working again about half way through, but other than that, it seemed like everything we were counting down to was happening in August. Aaron starting school, Alex moving out and finally being able to set up the nursery, two baby showers (well, one was at the end of July), and at the very end of August, our due date!! So as July came to an end, I realized that somehow in the last 2 weeks we got really busy! Here is my official apology to all the friends that I've not followed through with due to unexpected activity!! And here is my photo-loaded post about our last few weeks. We bought a washer and dryer! We've been doing coin laundry in our building, just 1 flight below us, for the past year. Though it hasn't been the most annoying thing in the world, I am certainly happy to not have to walk up and down those steps and make sure we have enough quarters anymore! Today, we have only 53 days until baby boy's due date! We had our 32 week doctor's appointment, which included the last ultrasound we'll get! In this picture he is looking at us. I think I can make out his nose, a dark area that is his eye and apparently he has big cheeks!  This is a profile picture. He is sleeping with his arm kind of covering the bottom of his face, but I can at least make out a nose and forehead! The appointment went really well. His heart rate was 133, which is normal, but the lowest it has been. I'm assuming because he hadn't actually woken up yet for the day! He tends to "wake up" just as I am going to sleep, so we get a lot of movement in the evenings. I can typically feel his bum up against the top of my belly and it has proven to be pretty fun to push it around, haha! I'm definitely starting to feel that 3rd trimester exhaustion. My back is hurting a bit, so finding a comfortable position to sleep can take a while...

I know I'm up for a post about my time at Camp Carysbrook, but I wanted to do a big post about what camp has meant to me and I can't seem to get the right words just yet, so I figured I'd come back to it. My last stop on my "last hoorah trip" was Winston! I got to spend quality time with great friends and it was such a delight. Highlights include So You Think You Can Dance with the Lewies, dinner with the Hamers, girl time with Linda and Open Mic Night with everyone!  Kate and Kevin singing at Open Mic Night Steven, emcee extraordinaire! baby! However, the real highlight of my time in Winston was when my great friend Kevin offered to take some maternity shots of me! I was super excited and very flattered when 10 minutes after arrived he looked at me and said "I want to take you downtown and take some pictures"! Here are highlights from the week I spent in Alexandria and then the week I spent babysitting my nephew in Charlottesville!   An evening in DC with Laura Dean and Margaret, two of my great camp friends. It was so wonderful to spend time with these friends!! Lots of pictures of Cole. Highlights include the pool and Fridays after Five with my mom and sister!     Another HUGE reason for my trip back east was to meet Caroline Bennett Hawkins, my friends Katherine and Jay 's new baby girl. They live about 30 minutes from my sister, so I spent an evening and an afternoon walk with them! Caroline was about 9 weeks when I met her and is the sweetest, most precious baby! I am so glad I got to spend time with them and see Katherine and Jay as parents!
