Back in touch - we moved to Indiana!

Let's just jump right in, shall we?

At the beginning of June my family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Aaron is starting the M.Div program here at Concordia Seminary and it was strongly suggested we get here in time for him to take summer Greek.

I ended my job and the little boys' school years on June 1.

Aaron and Canon finished their year a week later on the 8th.

The process to get here was somewhat quick. While Aaron has loved teaching for the past 10 years, especially at Immanuel, we both knew he was feeling a little restless the past 2. So, when in October he told me he was "meeting with our pastor to discuss becoming a pastor", I wasn't entirely surprised. I have always thought he would be a great second career pastor, and that his giftings in teaching and community organizing would suit him well in that role.

After a few meetings and phone calls with other wise people, Aaron was confident enough to have us go visit. We flew out to Fort Wayne in November to visit with some people and drive around town. He officially applied by the end of January, though it took until May to get the final acceptance letter. I came out in April with my mom to house hunt and interview for jobs. Our house sold in May and we were blessed to have some guys move our stuff into our Fort Wayne house before we even arrived!

We set off on Saturday June 9th and the drive took about 13 hours including stops.

The boys did a great job and we finally arrived around 8:30pm on Saturday night. This is their first look at the new place!

Aaron started classes early Saturday morning. I spent about a week with the boys getting partly settled, but mostly playing at the YMCA, until I could figure out school/camp for them. I was able to start work last week. I'll be the Office Administrator at a K-8 Lutheran school (hooray for elementary school schedules and breaks!!!)

We're settling in very slowly, but getting there!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
