Canon turns 5!

On September 4th Canon turned 5!

Playing catch-up....

I can hardly believe I have a 5 year old. Turning 5 and starting Kindergarten all in the same week definitely makes me feel like I have a big kid on my hands. We had a great summer and there were a lot of moments when I could see a mature, independent, responsible little boy emerge.
Canon love super heroes and Star Wars. He knows who Bryce Harper is and loves looking at Aaron's old baseball cards. He is starting to put together letter sounds and loves sounding out words to read and to write. He will play by himself only on the weekends when he has an hour of rest time in the basement, or if we go to my mom's house! Otherwise he wants us or Ben to be right there with him.
On his birthday he opened a big playmobile camping playset. We met my mom for milkshakes and french fries by the water, then had a cake for him at a teacher gathering that night.
The next weekend we had friends over for pizza and cupcakes, which of course I have no pictures of!

Here is to a great 5th year Canon Andrew! We pray that you will continue to live a big life! We pray that you will love Kindergarten and look forward especially to you learning to read! We pray you will love your brothers well, leading them to do the right thing. We pray for your friendships at school, that you would be sweet and kind. And we pray that you would always choose the right thing! Love you bug!

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

Augustine Oliver Schultz

Early November 9th, we welcomed our fourth son, Augustine Oliver Schultz into the world! He was another scheduled c-section, at 39 weeks and 1 day. He weighed 9lbs 1oz, coming in 2nd only to Ben in terms of birth weight! My mom came into town the Tuesday beforehand and we checked lots of things off our list. With the exception of organizing clothes (thanks friends!), I had literally done nothing to get ready. We cleaned the room that will become his bedroom, separated clothes and swaddles, bought a changing table/dresser combo and she even gifted us a deep freezer! It was a very productive 2 1/2 days! The night before we continued a tradition of eating out at a mexican restaurant. Then came home and did all our normal bedtime routines. The boys knew that when they woke up they would be with my mom and we would be at the hospital. Before we all went to bed, we ended up around the dining table brainstorming more names. Going into the summer/fall we were somewhat set on Ari August...
