5 on Friday

Linking up with April, Christina, Natasha and Darci this afternoon for 5 on Friday! No rules, just pick 5 things and share them!
1. Lent. I'm thinking about this season in two ways. The first by sacrifice or discipline, and to that end I am giving up my snooze button and sweets. The second way I am thinking about the season is by enriching my Spiritual life (also part of my yearly/monthly goals). To that end, I am doing the Naptime Diaries 40 days with Jesus devotional as well as a 40 day reading plan through the book of Concord with two friends from my church. I am hopeful for the growth that can happen in 40 days!

2. Avett Brothers Pandora. I've recently gotten back into the habit of listening to music while cooking and this station has been one the whole family enjoys. Variety includes Of Monsters and Men, Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes.

3. Giving up the Pull-Ups. I don't think I posted about it, but we did the 3-day Potty Training boot camp with Canon back in July, 2 months before he turned 3. He easily got it during the day, but I wasn't ready to trade the diapers for sheet laundry every morning, so we went to pull-ups. We haven't talked much about it and honestly, I didn't see them ending any time soon. I don't regulate his liquid intake before bedtime and he definitely wasn't waking up dry. However, the most recent pack we bought were too tight, so this past Wednesday I gave him the choice to give up his storytime cup for no pull-up and he chose no pull-up! Now, he did not wake up dry the next morning, BUT this morning he did! I heard him at 6:10am go to the bathroom, then back into his room to lay down until his clock turned green at 6:45am. He excitedly came out and said he was dry! Hooray! This still means I need to watch what he drinks at night, but I'm so proud of him!!!

4. Superbowl Winners! This cute picture of my little Broncos fans. Canon was born in Denver the year that Peyton started with them, so it makes sense that is where our allegiance lies.

Making his Valentine's Day box
5. Preschool Valentine's Day. Love it SO much! All the fun of Christmas parties, but without the added pressure of amazing teacher gifts! We got some chocolates for the teachers, some Avenger Valentine's for class and I ordered Papa John's Pizza for the party. Success!

Bonus: Canon had his "interview" for Jr-Kindergarten at Immanuel last week and it went super well! He'll be in a class with these two sweet boys who got to play a lot at our Annual Chili Cook-Off last weekend!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
