20 weeks & gender reveal!

Tuesday, July 29th marked the 1/2 point of this pregnancy! I can't even believe we're already this far along! I went in for an appointment the Friday before for our anatomy ultrasound. We immediately told her we did not want to know the gender since we had this big reveal planned for Friday night. Everything looked healthy with our baby, so we rushed out of there to give our envelope to our wonderful accomplice, Meg.

Once Meg had opened the envelope (in the safety of her car away from us!) she went to the craft store and picked up 20 cans of silly string in the correct color. Lucky for all of us, the only part of the can that revealed the color was the cap, so she was easily able to rid any clues and get the string into our car for later in the evening (they unfortunately were going to be out of town, so couldn't partake in the actual event). She also ordered some "sweet treats" and dropped them off at the restaurant for later.

Finally, after naps and playing at the sprayground, it was time to head to the reveal. We gathered with friends and family at a local field and passed out the cans. Then, with eyes closed, we counted down from 5 and...

 BOY!!!!!!
Thank you so much to Kevin Wolf for the pictures!

It was really fun to have our friends involved in our finding out! I know some of you were worried, but I am super happy that we're having a boy! I know he and Canon will be awesome playmates and friends. We even have a strong front-runner for a name which makes it even more fun and real.

After the silly string (which, bytheway, was extremely web like and there was much more on my face, hair and head than I imagined!) we all headed over to our favorite Mexican spot and had a great time! Meg even sweetly surprised us with blue colored KING CAKE! I thought she was getting cupcakes, that sneaky one :)

We can't say thank you enough to Meg & Chris for making it all happen and to all our friends and family who came out to spray us. We have found ourselves among a great community here in Alexandria and I am so glad for the friends we've made and the families with whom we'll be raising our 2 sons!

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...
