5 Things That Make My Life Easier

I saw this as a post on Babycenter.com and thought it would make a great blog post as well!

1. Sleep Routine - Having a routine and certain cues for Canon's nap and bedtimes is awesome. We do the same thing mostly every day and definitely every night and he goes to sleep so easily! Currently, our nighttime routine includes a bath, bottle and bed. He has a sound machine that plays water/white noise and he loves curling up with his pacifier and his bear blanket in the crib!

2. Public Transportation - We only have 1 car, so the bus has been a life-saver this year. We typically trade off who takes the bus to work, but it has been SO easy to use and I'm so glad Denver has made an effort to have non-sketchy public transportation!

3. Meal Planning - I'll be the first to admit, we're not super great at this, but as we're realizing how much of a difference it really does make, we're making it a priority! We try to plan 2-3 meals a week that we can have twice and then pick up something super easy, like a skillet meal, or a lasagna for the other days. Also, we write our meals on a dry-erase board on the refrigerator so we both know what we're having each night! No-Stress!

4. Cloth Diapers/Washer & Dryer - We love our diapers, and I am especially glad about the money it is saving us and the fact that we're never making late night grocery store runs for diapers! Also, we got our washer & dryer just this past summer so we no longer have to use the coin laundry in our apartment! PTL, so much easier!

5. Nook - I was given a Nook by my dad this past Christmas and it really does make life easier. When Aaron is on the computer, I can still get on and read my blogs! It also makes it really easy to buy books, of course, but I have to watch myself on that or I'll be reading two per week....and that is a lot of money!

I am really loving this idea of hearing what makes life easier for all of you! If you'd like to participate, here are a few ways:

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
