Our First Year of Marriage

Wow, a lot has happened over this past year! We got married, moved and started new jobs and school. It has been such a wonderful time though and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Since we are celebrating our 1 Year Anniversary today, I thought it would be fun to think of highlights from each month of this first year of marriage. Enjoy!

January 8, 2011 - Our Wedding! Though it was quick, we couldn't have been happier with the way it all came together!

February - we enjoyed Krewe Du Vieux with our friends the Avrards!

March - I drove to Charlottesville, VA to meet my new nephew, Cole. Also, I got to see Katherine & Jay and their Chick-fil-a in Waynesboro

April - Easter weekend, our original wedding weekend, took Aaron and I to Denver to interview for what would become his job teaching 5th & 6th grade!

May - we celebrated Aaron's 27th birthday! We made the trip back to Colorado to watch Alex graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

June - we traveled to Virginia to celebrate Cori & Rebecca's wedding and see that sweet nephew of mine!

July  - we went all the way across to California. We were married again in Aaron's home church and spent a few days in San Francisco!

We also packed up all our stuff and moved to Colorado!

August - we found an apartment and I started trying to make it a home

October - we celebrated the birth of our niece, Hellen Irene Adoko! We went to Breckenridge for a school retreat and watched lots of Clemson football!

November - we finally got back to New Orleans to celebrate Kurt & Becca's wedding! And, I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for all the Schultzes!

December - back to the east coast for Christmas!

Phew, wow. This year has been one of the most fun, most challenging, most joyful and most rewarding of my life. I couldn't thank God enough for a great husband, fabulous friends in New Orleans, amazing provisions in work and friends here in Colorado and the blessing to have people in so many parts of the country to visit! We're praying for more of the same for 2012, hopefully with more visits to those friends!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
