confession

The weight of lies will bring you down
And follow you to every town
Cause nothing happens here that doesn’t happen there
So when you run make sure you run
To something and not away from
Cause lies don’t need an aeroplane to chase you anywhere
 - The Weight of Lies by The Avett Brothers

These lyrics have been in my head pretty much since we moved to Colorado. Both Aaron and I were so looking forward to our move here. We definitely withheld it in our minds that once we moved to Colorado, the negative things that were affecting our relationship and our lives individually would be gone. By leaving the New Orleans culture of eating out and coming to the Colorado culture of outdoor activity and exercise, surely we would be inspired to get in shape and lose some weight! Getting a place on our own (we had a roommate in New Orleans for 6 months, which was definitely a blessing!) would help our romance as a couple. Starting a new school year would clearly help us be more intentional about spending time together. The list goes on in a similar fashion...
Pretty much we thought that by moving away, our lazy tendencies would be left in New Orleans.

Hello reality. That just hasn't been the case. Our laziness has followed us here and that has been pretty disappointing. However, at this point I'm glad that I have recognized that just by moving all my/his/our problems will not be solved. That would just be too easy.

So here is to the beginning of a new season! A season of both Aaron and I facing our "lies" that have followed us here. I love the last part of those lyrics - "so when you run, make sure you run, to something and not away from". Here is to a season of running to something - to each other and to Jesus. To becoming the people God has called us to be separately and together.

I look forward to sharing with you how God is moving in our lives. Tomorrow I'll be sharing about the amazing Marriage Conference we were so blessed to attend last weekend! This new season has certainly begun and praise be to God for it!

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

what's going on

We're starting to try some rice cereal. I've been pretty sporadic about it, but after his 6 month appointment (which is NEXT WEEK!) I'll start putting "solids" into our every day routine.      Canon has found his feet! Now every diaper change is just the most fun, trying to get those toes into his mouth!   Canon is officially rolling over, both sides! This particular picture happened when I had gone into my bedroom for a hot second and came out to find him on his tummy! He can do it regularly now, though he doesn't love being on his tummy and rolls back over quickly.  Other things going on: Canon is officially sleeping unswaddled!! I guess around 2 weeks ago, we started again with the one arm out and went from there. He now sleeps in a fleece sleep sack with arms. I'm not going to lie, the process wasn't quite as daunting as I had originally thought, but I think that is because we waited until he was really ready.  ...
