happy fall decorating

We had our first dinner guests last night! It was super fun to host and even more exciting to get our house ready for guests! I got to go to Bed Bath & Beyond and Target and shop for new, holiday appropriate table ware and accessories! Woohoo!!! Our apartment is slowly, but surely, feeling more like home! Here are some pictures of a few updates I pulled together last night and some we did a few weeks ago.

I bought these initials back in September. Now we'll never get our towels confused :)

I finally got some of our wedding pictures printed in frame-able sizes! Though our collage is not finished, I'm happy with the progress!

Another necessary need we finally filled was something for our "foyer". A place to drop keys, mail, notes and laundry money. We bought the window frame in New Orleans and the shelf and basket from Target. I love it!

I updated our couch pillows yesterday as well! I love all the different colors!

If y'all follow any home decorating blogs, you'll probably notice a lot of homeowners like to decorate their mantels for different seasons and holidays. Well, we don't have a mantel, so I turned the top of my hope chest into a makeshift mantel. Here it is with some new fall decorations!

Finally, our dining room table! This table was donated to us from someone at our church and I really love it. We only have 5 chairs for it, but 3 leaves, so it has the capacity to fit a lot of people! I was so excited to get a new tablecloth and fun accessories for the middle. I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year (crazy!) so I'm really excited to use this for the next few months!

Next up definitely needs to be some paint on those walls! Everything is white or beige!!
Any color suggestions?

Happy Fall Decorating!!!

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

Augustine Oliver Schultz

Early November 9th, we welcomed our fourth son, Augustine Oliver Schultz into the world! He was another scheduled c-section, at 39 weeks and 1 day. He weighed 9lbs 1oz, coming in 2nd only to Ben in terms of birth weight! My mom came into town the Tuesday beforehand and we checked lots of things off our list. With the exception of organizing clothes (thanks friends!), I had literally done nothing to get ready. We cleaned the room that will become his bedroom, separated clothes and swaddles, bought a changing table/dresser combo and she even gifted us a deep freezer! It was a very productive 2 1/2 days! The night before we continued a tradition of eating out at a mexican restaurant. Then came home and did all our normal bedtime routines. The boys knew that when they woke up they would be with my mom and we would be at the hospital. Before we all went to bed, we ended up around the dining table brainstorming more names. Going into the summer/fall we were somewhat set on Ari August...
