house tour

Welcome to the new site! I switched over hoping it will be easier to navigate through posting pictures and text as well as keeping track with all my other blogs! Most of the blogs I follow are through blogspot, so I hope you'll check them out over on the right!

We moved into our apartment a little under 2 weeks ago. Though we haven't done a whole lot, we have made some progress. Here are a few before (moving day) and after (how it looks right at this moment) pics! There is a lot left to be done, but we'll get there!!

We have been super blessed to receive some furnishings from members of Aaron's school/church congregation. The recliner on the left was given to us and hopefully soon there will be a nice sage color slipcover over it. We don't have a TV yet, nor do we plan on getting cable, so we've been watching our shows online as well as working our way through Friday Night Lights on DVD.

We don't yet have a dining room table, so our desk is serving the purpose of collecting mail, keys, books, our budget notebook and chargers. The hope is to get a table or shelves for the "entry way" to hold all these things once we get a dining room table. And if you are family, this Ikea table would make a great Christmas gift!! ;) We actually went to the brand new Ikea that just opened here a few days ago and I have lots of pictures to share of things we liked coming soon!

We've definitely been able to fill up our 5 closets that we have in our house! And if you look closely, you'll see 4 lamps on the floor. We were gifted the 3 matching ones and bought the 4th at a yard sale on Saturday. I just bought some spray paint and am hoping to bring some brightness and color to them in the next few days.

The bathroom in a nice peach color. We were lucky enough to already have this shower curtain that matches so well! We bought the bathmat and towels from Bed Bath & Beyond (thanks to those who gave us gift cards!). They are both microdry and are the.softest.things.ever. Seriously. Go buy them.

This was the room we unloaded our entire life into on moving day. I know it still looks crowded, but at least we can walk into it and iron! We affectionately call this room "Alex's Room" for Aaron's little brother. He has hopes of attending DU next fall - which is literally across the street from us - though he'll probably want to get his own place. The idea is for this to be a guest room/office. If someone comes to visit, it'll definitely jump-start getting this room under control, so please come!

Like I said, we're certainly not having problems filling up our closets! This room is really nice for us, especially since we're really only in there to sleep. It has one big window that will hopefully get some pretty curtains down the road. And that great mirror in the middle is more than just a mirror - but more on that later.

And just for fun, that is our front door and apartment number. There is a lot more we need to do to this place, but I'm feeling really happy here. We have slight mountain views from our windows, our building is quiet and we have great parks and paths close by to play in! We're so excited about being here! And if you have any suggestions on decorating, spray painting lamps or other DIY funness, please let me know!

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...
