13 weeks

Canon has a lot of reading to do before December!
I was so excited to finally announce to the social media world last night that we are expecting baby #2. I knew almost immediately that I was pregnant, though it took a while for that second line to show up on a test! My own mother didn't believe me until I went and had a blood test done! We told our parents and siblings almost immediately. Our initial plan was to tell our works at 8 weeks, then everyone else after the 12 week appointment. However, I was seeing lots of college friends right after my initial 8 week appointment, so I had to tell them in person. I also didn't try very hard to disguise that I wasn't drinking, so between a big Easter party and a wedding shower we threw, most friends up here figured it out quickly. Aaron also had a hard time not telling people. First it was just his 6th grade girls, then he "accidentally" told a few parents, then some moms in the church nursery....and well by our 12 week appointment it felt like everyone knew! But I knew I wanted to do something cute to capture all the excitement we've been feeling over the past 3 months and I'm so glad this sweet picture of big brother Canon turned out. I'm hoping to document this pregnancy, so I've borrowed a little update list from Carolina Charm and A. Liz Adventures, whose pregnancies and now sweet babies I followed very closely! It may not be every week, and it may or may not include a photo of me, but its something! This is from last week, as I am currently 14 weeks.
Also, thanks to all of you who liked and commented on IG and FB last night/this morning! We really are so excited!!!

How far along: 13 weeks!

Baby Size: a pea pod, 3 inches and almost 1 ounce

Weight gain: -2.5!! (from my 7 week appt to my 12 week appt)

Maternity clothes: not yet, surprisingly

Sleep: varies, some nights I go all the way through, some nights I toss and turn.

Gender: 6-8 more weeks til we know this one

Movement: not yet

Best moment this week: hearing the heartbeat last Friday and announcing it at church on Sunday

Looking forward to: telling everyone!

Food cravings: breakfast immediately upon waking up to curb the nausea

Anything making you queasy or sick: nothing specific, but I definitely feel it most in the morning and evenings

Labor Signs: nope

What I miss: definitely alcohol, especially now that the weather is nice and we've been celebrating the end of the school year with many outside parties

Symptoms: exhuastion, going to bed early and napping as often as I can and more "morning sickness" than I had with Canon. Also, pregnancy brain - realizing this week that I'm going to have to start triple checking my work after I made a few mistakes last week.

Nursery: I got our Rock N Play back from my sister, does that count?

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: tired, but glad we're out in the open now

going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Arise Campus Ministry 9.23.14

Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to be part of some awesome ministries. From time to time, I've been given the chance to speak and I wanted a place to keep those files. Here is where I'll post my talks, Bible Studies, etc that I'm either doing or creating.  Arise Campus Ministry at George Mason University 9.23.2014 This week I want to tell y’all a little about my story, because the word “belonging” is extremely significant in it. I came to Christ at the end of middle school – which for me were terrible years. Think about all the stereotypes of mean girls and being made fun of and left out, and that is my story. It all really fell apart for me at the beginning of my 9 th  grade year when every girl I had left middle school fighting to maintain a friendship with completely ignored me. I had a peripheral friendship with a girl who was a church goer and accepted her invitation to become part of their youth group. I had been on and off, but nev...

February Goals

Happy February! I'm joining Elizabeth and Sarah to talk about B+ Goals for the month! I am loving the idea of setting up some attainable goals for each month, but also giving myself grace for meeting or not meeting them. This year I am focusing on my Physical and Spiritual Health. First, a quick review of January's Goals. January Physical Health Goals : * hit my 10,000 steps 4 days of the week (I work a desk job, so this means I'll have to do some extra walking either before or after work) * track my food  January Spiritual Health Goals :  * read Simply Tuesday by Emily P Freeman * start my day with Jesus Calling and First 5 App   As my husband would say, I won more days than I lost in January! My fitbit broke 3 weeks into January, so the last week and some I wasn't able to track, but I did get to the gym to run a few times without it. I also tracked more food than I didn't and the days we were at work I did really well staying w...
