Canon - 3 Things

Canon Andrew... 3 1/2 years old today. Here are 3 things about you at this age. (And pictures, that don't necessarily have to do with the things)

1. As of this week, I am 85% sure you have dropped your nap and your pull-up at night. You stopped napping at school last week, and though it has made for a rough transition after school and early morning wake ups, I'm okay with it. You still napped for us last weekend and we will certainly try for the naps at home until you give us a fight, but I won't expect you to sleep at school anymore. Along with that, you've been waking up early to go potty, so we're ditching the pull-ups. These two things feel very big in terms of you completely growing out of the toddler stage!

2. You talk...nonstop. Mostly, I love it. But sometimes when you are asking questions I don't know the answer to, or talking just so you won't fall asleep in the car, I have to ask you to wait. I want you to enjoy talking to me well past this age, but for now, we'll work on waiting and holding your thoughts!

3. You are so physical. Every night when we get home you want daddy to wrestle you. This is just the way you play. And you've even starting bringing Ben into the playtime. Watching the 3 of you wrestling on the floor makes my heart so happy - and so glad you have a great daddy who will play that game with you!

You are the best. I say this every year, but the way you have grown up so much already this year is fascinating. You are can articulate what you want and need, you make up amazing games with your friends and can even write your name! You are beginning to have preferences when it comes to playmates, but you are an all around sweet kid. I simultaneously can't wait to see what the second half of this year brings while also willing time to slow down so I can soak it all in! Love you, bug!

P.S. - thanks to #timehop, I was reminded that I did a full review of Canon this time last year - you can find that here! So fun to reminisce, and see the things that have stayed the same.

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...
