Birthday Weekend in North Carolina

For my birthday this year, Aaron surprised me with a family photo shoot by our favorite photographer, Kevin! He booked us a time the weekend of my birthday and it was the best! We woke up early on Saturday and made the drive down to Winston, only stopping once for a long lunch at Cracker Barrel (which is a road trip must for us). We got to hang out with Kevin and Brittany for a bit at their super cute house in Winston before heading up to Pilot Mountain for our photos. They spent so much time with us and I can not wait to see how they turn out! Here are a few that he snapped at the end on his iPhone and judging by these, I know I am going to love the rest!

We spent Saturday night until Monday morning in Greensboro with Meg and Avery and their family! Meg, Chris and Avery moved back down to Wilmington about a year ago and this is the 2nd time we've seen them since. Meg's mom, Peach, was very gracious to host us and Meg's two sister's and nephew were also around for the fun time. I can't say enough about how much I love this family, they make me want to move down there and hang out all the time!
We went to the Greensboro Science Center on Sunday morning and got to see penguins, monkeys, tigers, a peacocks and pet goats and sheep! The rest of the time we spent playing with all the fun toys in the drive way. Peach and the girls even set up an Egg Hunt for the kids! So cute.

A birthday weekend filled with great friends is the BEST kind. I am SO grateful for Kevin & Brittany AND the Jones/Smiths! North Carolina is making a very strong case for itself, haha! Happy 31st to me!

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...
