February Goals

Happy February! I'm joining Elizabeth and Sarah to talk about B+ Goals for the month! I am loving the idea of setting up some attainable goals for each month, but also giving myself grace for meeting or not meeting them. This year I am focusing on my Physical and Spiritual Health.

First, a quick review of January's Goals.

January Physical Health Goals:
* hit my 10,000 steps 4 days of the week (I work a desk job, so this means I'll have to do some extra walking either before or after work)
* track my food
January Spiritual Health Goals
* read Simply Tuesday by Emily P Freeman
* start my day with Jesus Calling and First 5 App

As my husband would say, I won more days than I lost in January! My fitbit broke 3 weeks into January, so the last week and some I wasn't able to track, but I did get to the gym to run a few times without it. I also tracked more food than I didn't and the days we were at work I did really well staying within a healthy range. The snow days however...well that is something I'm still recovering from!
Spiritually, I was probably 50% on this goal, but that is a lot more than December, so I am calling it a win!

February goals are to continue with January in terms of Physical and Spiritual Health and gain even more ground on my consistency with those. For February I want to add some tidiness goals, which I think will improve my mental space which in turn will help me improve on my overall 2016 goals.

1. Make bed daily. I read this post and decided it was a must goal for February. She says "the simple task of making my bed made a HUGE difference in my life and in my home".

2. Tidy Up daily. I'd say the number 2 "fight" between Aaron and I is daily upkeep of our home. In theory I want to have a tidier home, but often resent him for the work I have to do to keep it that way. This month, I'm going to tidy up daily because I know it is something that will bring me joy, so I am responsible for giving that to myself. Emily's Blog post about tidying was a good reminder to just do it.

So, while February goals don't fall exactly under Spiritual and Physical, I know that by making the bed and having a visually clean kitchen, I'll feel much more free to put time and effort into my overall health.

Are you a goal setter? Have you made any small changes with big impact? I'd love to know!

  1. I find making the bed each morning really does make me happy! I'm the only one who cares about it, but I feel like it starts my day off right. :) Glad you're joining in!

  2. Ok, so I have definitely noticed that the mornings I make my bed, I really do feel better about starting the day! It's kind of ridiculous to me that this has any effect on my day, yet somehow it does! haha. My mom would be so proud.

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...
