Canon - 2.5 years

Wow, it was SO crazy to write that title. It's so cliche, but I can hardly believe I have a 2 AND A HALF year old!

This kid. He is hysterical. Even in the last 3 months he has grown so much. He talks non stop. And he is funny! He knows when he is being silly and sly, like responding to questions with the "wrong" answer as a game. He loves cars and trucks. One of his favorite things to do with Aaron is go to Target and look at the toys - and is okay leaving without one! He also loves "moooovies". He is caring and compassionate and if he thinks I am sad about something he'll always come over and give me a hug and kiss!

He is getting so tall. I look back at pictures of him and realize all of the baby has come out. He is becoming this long, lanky thing. He's in 2T/3T clothes and size 8/9 shoes. He also has decided he has preferences, so whether it is which shirt he is wearing (mater) or which pants (the brown ones) or which pajamas (bears or spiderman) he definitely cares. Sometimes its a battle, sometimes not - depending on the laundry situation ;)

He goes to daycare at Ms. B's house every day and he loves it. He has two friends, Nicolas and Kasen, that are his age that he plays with. He especially loves playing soccer with them, reading and doing crafts. He is learning a lot, too! He can say his ABC's and count up to 12ish. He's beginning to show signs of one-to-one correspondence when counting and can correctly identify (when he wants to!) a lot of colors. He's learning a bit of Spanish - colors and numbers - and can understand Ms. B when she gives him directions in Spanish. He takes a 2 hour nap at her house and goes sleep around 7:30pm and sleeps about 11-12 hours each night!

Its not all rainbows and sunshine with a 2.5 year old as well though! We're learning to mean what we say and follow through. He certainly pushes the limits and has his share of time-outs, but I know that it's really good for him to learn his boundaries and hopefully this will be a short lived phase.

He loves going to church and seeing all his friends. We are SO lucky that there are about 3 or 4 other boys at church his age who he'll start school with, so we're pushing those friendships now! We often talk about all the people we'll see at church and he really gets excited to see Pastor and Vicar Doug. He's become more and more interested in the service and has recently been copying some of Pastor's and Vicar Doug's words and movements during the service - such as when we are told to "depart in peace" after Communion and when Pastor makes a triangle with his hands during the benediction - Canon loves to do that with him in the back pew!

Phew, what else Bug? You are a joy to be around! We love how energetic and rambunctious you are, but also how sweet and caring you can be too! We hope that the next 6 months brings even more learning, fun and sweet times together! Love you Bug!

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...
