My Thing

I feel like everyone has got something going on these days. From homemade crafts, to workout groups, to kitchen ware, to jewelry - and then even blogs and instagram - its almost rare if you aren't making money in a "non-traditional" way! I have some very talented friends and family who have chosen these paths! My cousin Hayden just launched her own Etsy shop selling custom artMelanie is making beautiful kids clothing at The Twirl Shop, and Katherine designs birth announcements and invitations! My sister was a BeachBody coach for a little while and had us all drinking those shakes! Women are getting paid to write about products they love, share links to fashion sites and any other kind of advertising you can do on a blog! And all of these things are wonderful! If you have the talent and passion, pursue it!

I am SO excited to say that my "something" is Rodan+Fields skincare! My friend Susan first approached me about it back in July and I ignored her message! However, the more I saw about the products and read about the business, I knew it was the right thing for me! (I will never have an Etsy shop - craftiness is just not in my genes!) There are a few reasons why I decided to jump in and join this business:

* Taking care of my skin is not a new thing for me. I have always been a diligent face wash/moisturize day and night kind of person. But, the products I could afford weren't exactly doing anything to help protect and prevent my skin from aging! I know that investing in my skin today is going to make a huge impact in how it looks in 20 years. Knowing I would be getting quality skincare at a price I could afford was a huge bonus

* Even from just looking around Facebook and blogposts of women who sell, I could see that Rodan+Fields is built upon an amazing community of women. From random pictures posted from Conventions, to the amount of social media support, these women seemed to be finding real relationships among the business of skin care. That was very intriguing to me!

* Contributing to my family financially. There are trips we'd like to take, a mini-van I'd like to buy, accessories and decor for our apartment, etc. If there was a way I could earn some extra cash to go towards extra fun things in our life - without adding more hours away from my sweet boys - well that sounds great!

I am less than a week in and I have to say all of these things have proven to be true. I was immediately invited into a great community of women who are so encouraging and helpful. I can't wait to meet them all in person! Though the snow seems to have delayed my shipment of products, I have high hopes for posting my own before/after photos! And I know that in just a few months, we'll be able to start adding a few extras to make our life a little more fun!

While you won't see me with a sewing machine, hosting parties, or creating challenge groups, I will be sharing the amazing ways Rodan+Fields is helping me, and thousands of others, attain amazing skin and financial gains!

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

Fort Wayne Fun!

To be honest, when Aaron told me we were likely moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana....I wasn't thrilled at the geographical part of that statement. I didn't know much about the midwest and thought that Fort Wayne was a tiny town with lots of cows, corn and not much else. Thankfully, I was wrong! Fort Wayne is actually awesome. There are TWO Chick-fil-a's, lots of parks and playgrounds, rivers that run through, an awesome Children's zoo and much more. Here just a quick snapshot of some of the fun we've had this summer in Indiana. Camping - friends invited Aaron and the big boys on their first overnight tent camping experience! This state park was just 45 minutes from our house. I came up with the littles, then left way late to sleep in our own beds! The next morning they got to canoe! Hiking - we had a goal of hiking each Saturday morning that was free this summer, and we succeeded twice! Once in town, and once just about an hour away. So fun to be in the ...
