pinterest problems

Y'all. I probably have at least 120 recipes pinned on Pinterest. Between Crock Pot recipes, fall pumpkin recipes and sweet cravings, it is a lot. Here is the deal though, I've only made a hand-full of them. I see great recipes, pin them, never to return to actually make it! Then I'm left stressing out each night about what we are going to eat for dinner! Therefore, I am declaring the next 7 days my own personal Pinterest Recipe Challenge.

So, I totally stole the Graphic from YHL, who hosted a Pinterest Challenge at the end of October. Better late than never right? My plan is to make at least 1 recipe per day, preferably dinner, for the next 7 days or so. Here are the 8 recipes I wrote down last night, with an impromptu one that I already made this morning!

Now, this is not a food blog, nor am I a food photographer, so I'm just going to post a picture and let you know if I liked it. More than anything, this is a challenge for myself to, in the words of Katie Bower, "stop pinning and start doing."

This Pumpkin Coffee Cake is a success. It was really simple to make and didn't take much time at all. Growing up, my mom made Coffee Cake for breakfast on Christmas morning, but we have recently switched over to a more hearty breakfast casserole. I can definitely see myself starting a Thanksgiving morning tradition with this Pumpkin Coffee Cake.

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

Lent + Availability

This morning in my devotional book, the author took the story of Abraham (almost) sacrificing Isaac and continued using the word "availability" to describe Abraham. Some excerpts... "I marvel at the faith and availability to God that Abraham shows here." "And Abraham simply obeys...trusting in the faithful love of the God who asks this of him..." "And God blesses the great availability of Abraham" I was struck by the timing of this passage coming into my life, the day after Ash Wednesday when I'm still contemplating what I will be giving up this season. I had already chosen to give up TV, for reasons such as I spend too much time watching it and not being productive. I knew giving up TV would be good for my school work, the cleanliness of my house and my relationship with Aaron. But, this morning as I was reading about the availability of Abraham, I was hit with desire for that kind of availability as well! The kind of availability that...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...
