going public

Well...there is not really any other way to say this but... Aaron and I are having a BABY! Yep, Baby Schultz should be arriving this Labor Day. We could not be more thrilled about the news! Once we got through the 12-week ultrasound, which is what this picture is from, we were ready to spread the news! I know there are still lots of people who should have gotten phone calls, and for that I apologize that you are finding out now, but I was just ready to get it out there! And now I will answer the questions that typically follow up this kind of announcement. 1. Were you trying? Well....not exactly. From the beginning I have felt pretty strongly that we were not in control of this whole baby-making situation. I have known many women who got pregnant on birth control, or when they didn't even know they could, and those who "planned" it and then it has taken longer than hoped. I've just always been pretty sure that when the Lord determined we were ready, He'd ...

Lent + Availability

This morning in my devotional book, the author took the story of Abraham (almost) sacrificing Isaac and continued using the word "availability" to describe Abraham. Some excerpts... "I marvel at the faith and availability to God that Abraham shows here." "And Abraham simply obeys...trusting in the faithful love of the God who asks this of him..." "And God blesses the great availability of Abraham" I was struck by the timing of this passage coming into my life, the day after Ash Wednesday when I'm still contemplating what I will be giving up this season. I had already chosen to give up TV, for reasons such as I spend too much time watching it and not being productive. I knew giving up TV would be good for my school work, the cleanliness of my house and my relationship with Aaron. But, this morning as I was reading about the availability of Abraham, I was hit with desire for that kind of availability as well! The kind of availability that...

Our First Year of Marriage

Wow, a lot has happened over this past year! We got married, moved and started new jobs and school. It has been such a wonderful time though and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Since we are celebrating our 1 Year Anniversary today, I thought it would be fun to think of highlights from each month of this first year of marriage. Enjoy! January 8, 2011 - Our Wedding! Though it was quick, we couldn't have been happier with the way it all came together!    February - we enjoyed Krewe Du Vieux with our friends the Avrards!    March - I drove to Charlottesville, VA to meet my new nephew, Cole. Also, I got to see Katherine & Jay and their Chick-fil-a in Waynesboro      April - Easter weekend, our original wedding weekend, took Aaron and I to Denver to interview for what would become his job teaching 5th & 6th grade! May - we celebrated Aaron's 27th birthday! We made the trip back to Colorado to watc...

Christmas

Aaron and I went back to the East Coast for 10 days over Christmas this year! It was so fun to spend time with friends and family in Virginia, as well as in South Carolina. Here are some highlights of our trip!  Mom's Mantel, with the addition of Cole's stocking!   Aaron got to put the top on this year. What a lucky guy!   "Cupfast", cupcakes for breakfast, with my favorite Alexandria ladies!  Amanda, Casey & Cole.   What a cute kid. 6 teeth!   Apparently those teeth are sharp!   He is super close to walking!  Opening his present from the Wilsons!  Waiting on the women to get ready for Christmas Eve.  Christmas morning! He got a trike...  and a music set! drum, maraca and tambourine!  Aaron got Robert a pipe so they could have some "man time"  Cole looooves his Daddy! After Christmas we went to ...
