Tweetsie Railroad Weekend

**for those that keep up - I changed the web address to wellbeintouchblog.blogspot.com**

Last weekend we had the best time meeting up with friends in Blowing Rock, NC to go to Tweetsie Railroad! Tweetsie is a steam train theme park that has an old real working steam train along with lots of other amusement/carnival style rides for kids and adults! We met up with the Hawkins and Simoneauxs and had 6 kids between us! We all have kids within 8 months of each other, so it was really fun to get to hang out with the girls, talk mom stuff and watch our kids become friends! I am sure there will be many more trips like this in the future!

We left Friday morning and did really well, we took a long stop around Lexington, VA and the kids were very happy to be out of the car.

We saw App State's campus in Boone before heading into downtown Blowing Rock to meet up with everyone for dinner. For 6 kids who had all been in the car for a while, they did so well! Then bright and early Saturday morning we hit up Tweetsie! First things first, the steam train ride. They had a whole show with characters and a few stops to see some very choreographed fighting.

Braston was born 3 weeks after Canon and Caroline is just 5 months older

Jonathan was born 6 weeks before Ben and James is 8 months older. We love wearing our babies!

Then we went up the chairlift (7 minutes of relaxation with a sleeping Ben!) and there were kid rides at the top and a petting zoo!

One more ride then it was time to head home for some late naps!

The rest of the afternoon was spent kind of sleeping, working out, and letting the crock pot cook us dinner! We ate early and loaded everyone up back to downtown BR to get some ice cream. They had a great park and playground right in the middle of the downtown and we got a lot of good playtime in there.

The next morning we tried to get a picture of all the kids before we left - this was the best we got! There will be many more opportunities in the future, I'm sure!

These two really enjoyed each other!

And last top was Daniel Boone Inn for a good country family meal for Father's Day. It was so fun to see these friends! Since having babies so close, we've been pretty good about texting each other the funny stories and crazy questions that come along with being mom, but there's nothing better than in person quality time! Can't wait to do it again, love y'all!

Then, of course, a quick stop to Camp Carysbrook on our way home! Sunday was the first day campers were there, so it was fun to drive in and see everyone without being disruptive! Looking forward to getting back there this summer, too!

Baby Boy #3!

We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...
