follow through friday

Look at me, actually posting on a Friday!

This week wasn't terrible, but I unfortunately didn't see any change on the scale, so I'm going to focus on what many others refer to as Non-Scale Victories.

I ran my 5k! Saturday afternoon was such a pleasant day that as I set out for my run I decided to just do it. I am so glad that I did! Running a 5k has been a goal of mine for quite some time and I am especially proud that I did it all by myself.

Another great Kazaxe workout. Literally dripping sweat.

I registered for a race! A group of women in my mommy meet-up group decided to sign-up, so I jumped on with them. The last, and only, actual race I've done was the Crescent City Classic 10k in New Orleans in April 2010. It was definitely time.

The weather was once again ridiculous this week. We got snow all day Monday and it stayed in the 30's until Thursday. My only workouts this week were the run on Saturday and Kazaxe on Monday night. I will admit that while it has been difficult to find time to workout, I'm also not utilizing my time well. There were plenty of nights this week that I stayed in the apartment after Canon went to sleep which could have instead been spent at the gym.

So, that is my goal for this upcoming week. From this afternoon (it's raining, btw) til next Friday naptime, I'd like to get in 4 workouts. If the weather is nice, that won't be so hard! I think my eating has been fine, still working on figuring out what foods keep me full the longest. I'd like to come back next Friday and be able to say that I cut out all sugar that week. That'd be a huge accomplishment.

4 workouts and no sugar. Bring it!

Hoping to link up with these lovely ladies, who among many others, are providing me with lots of inspiration and motivation via their blogs and IG!

  1. You are awesome! Running a 5k and signing up for the race and being so honest about the good and bad parts of weight loss. You are an inspiration! Next week is in the bag!

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

Augustine Oliver Schultz

Early November 9th, we welcomed our fourth son, Augustine Oliver Schultz into the world! He was another scheduled c-section, at 39 weeks and 1 day. He weighed 9lbs 1oz, coming in 2nd only to Ben in terms of birth weight! My mom came into town the Tuesday beforehand and we checked lots of things off our list. With the exception of organizing clothes (thanks friends!), I had literally done nothing to get ready. We cleaned the room that will become his bedroom, separated clothes and swaddles, bought a changing table/dresser combo and she even gifted us a deep freezer! It was a very productive 2 1/2 days! The night before we continued a tradition of eating out at a mexican restaurant. Then came home and did all our normal bedtime routines. The boys knew that when they woke up they would be with my mom and we would be at the hospital. Before we all went to bed, we ended up around the dining table brainstorming more names. Going into the summer/fall we were somewhat set on Ari August...
