a quick trip to c-ville

One of the reasons I was so excited to move back home was to be close to my sister and her family as well as Katherine and her family! My sister is in Charlottesville, which is about a 2.5 hour drive, and Katherine is only 30 minutes from her! I am one lucky girl.

The start of school for my sister meant that their house was empty during the days, so Aaron, Canon and I took full advantage of that, as well as their one-floor layout! We went down last Tuesday and stayed til Thursday. It was great to spend time with them and Canon absolutely loves his Cousin Cole. Cole loves him too, and on Wednesday night said (with no prompting) "Baby Canon is my best friend!" Melt.My.Heart. I'm looking forward to lots more memories of these two!

The perfect front yard, complete with a swing!

Cole's train table, which may have provided more entertainment for Aaron!

I wish I had a picture, but really, Canon stood at this table almost the entire time playing. There were so many new and fun toys at their house!

I was lucky enough to get a short time with Katherine, Mama Lee and Miss Caroline! Once again, I didn't get enough pictures, but we sure had fun! It'll be great to get to see them more often too!

Kat and her mom would want me to excuse their appearance, we showed up right in the midst of a bathroom reno and they had been sanding and painting all day!

Hopefully there will be many more posts like this to come!

And guess who turns 1 in just 6 days.....I can't even begin to talk about it, I'm going to be a mess!

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

Augustine Oliver Schultz

Early November 9th, we welcomed our fourth son, Augustine Oliver Schultz into the world! He was another scheduled c-section, at 39 weeks and 1 day. He weighed 9lbs 1oz, coming in 2nd only to Ben in terms of birth weight! My mom came into town the Tuesday beforehand and we checked lots of things off our list. With the exception of organizing clothes (thanks friends!), I had literally done nothing to get ready. We cleaned the room that will become his bedroom, separated clothes and swaddles, bought a changing table/dresser combo and she even gifted us a deep freezer! It was a very productive 2 1/2 days! The night before we continued a tradition of eating out at a mexican restaurant. Then came home and did all our normal bedtime routines. The boys knew that when they woke up they would be with my mom and we would be at the hospital. Before we all went to bed, we ended up around the dining table brainstorming more names. Going into the summer/fall we were somewhat set on Ari August...
