5 weeks have gone by so quickly. Canon is getting the
cutest, fattest little cheeks and it makes me so happy. He loves to be swaddled
and can easily be comforted by bundling him up in a good Aden & Anais
blanket. I think he looks like a cocoon. He most often sleeps swaddled, but
when he doesn’t, he always brings one of his hands up to his face or under his
chin. We’ve discovered the Baby Bjorn and I love wearing him. It’s a good tool
as well to keep him sleeping when we’re out. He is awake more and more and is super alert. I can put him
in a chair or swing and he’ll just stare up at a toy or even seemingly at
nothing sometimes! He is starting to follow our voices and look for where we
are. He is spitting up like crazy, but I hear that is normal. We’re getting glimpses of smiles and
are looking forward to when they are actually directed toward us! He loves his
swing and is a great sleeper in it, though because we all know I’m crazy about
him sleeping, I try to have him nap in his bassinette as much as possible. He gave me a 5 hour stretch of sleep a few nights ago!! His typical night, however, is 3-4 hours in his first sleep, then he wakes up more and more as the night goes on. He loves his pacifier and I'm not even ashamed to say we use it often to soothe him to sleep. Next week is the "magic 6 weeks" where his sleeping is supposed to get more organized and I am looking forward to it unbelievably.
I am feeling pretty good...as good as one can feel with interrupted sleep. I admit at 3am when he isn't sleeping, I can be a crazy woman, but I typically look back on each night with appropriate rationale during the day. We're getting ready to take a trip to New Orleans for our friend's Kim & Matt's wedding this weekend and can't wait! Here's to sleeping well on the plane and not getting sick!
We are expecting baby boy #3 and since I documented a good amount of my pregnancies with the older two, I want to at least start off giving this one the same treatment! I am due May 25th, though he'll probably come around the 18th by c-section. We found out in my 18 week appointment that we were having a boy and I can honestly say I've been super excited since. With two older brothers already ruining, I mean running, the house, I'm happy to bring another boy into our crazy. This pregnancy will always be remembered by having to have my gall bladder removed at week 11. As soon as I hit 6 weeks I started having intense gall bladder pain. I've dealt with gall stones since Canon was born, but they were always singular events that would pass in about 4 hours, and this pain was consistent and all day/night long. The doctors I saw encouraged me to manage it with diet and hope to get to 16 weeks before discussing surgery. I tried everything, which pretty much meant eating noth...
