2 weeks

Well, I am 2 days late on this week's photo, but hopefully that won't be the pattern. Canon turned 2 weeks this past Tuesday, and it was one crazy day. My sister flew into town early in the morning, then my mom flew out that afternoon. He was a champ and did both long car rides super well. It helped that he had people doting over him the entire time! This week's picture was taken a little bit in a rush, but he has definitely gotten bigger! (don't mind that he looks purple, he has great skin in real life!) We had his 2 week appointment this past Monday. He came in at 21 1/2 inches, which is the 80th percentile and 8lbs 8.5oz, which is above birth weight and the 50th percentile. Yay! Above birth weight means I get to stop waking him up every 3 hours to eat and can let him sleep until he is hungry! On his own he is going about every 3 1/2 hours, which is awesome. We're still trying to figure out the night sleeping, when he'll give me a long stretch, yet for some reason he has a harder time falling asleep at night than during the day, but that is fine. He still hardly cries, but we've been giving him the Soothie a little more and that seems to help calm him down.

I'm looking forward to this week of "doing it on our own." I had a great time with my family and am SO glad they were here, though I know I tended to push myself with outings and socializing week 2, so I'm looking forward to a bit of a slower pace this week.

That being said, we are definitely ready for all our friends to come meet him and visit, so please come by the apartment and say hi!

His and Hers

Aaron has officially started his second year of seminary! To commemorate, I thought I'd paste the answers to some questions we were both recently asked. A way to get an idea of both sides of our life right now. My answers: How did you spend your summer?  We had the best summer! Aaron took Hebrew in June and July, and I had my first summer as a stay at home mom. We went to the beach, pool, the library, visited Chicago and came to Alexandria twice!!  What are you most looking forward to (in your 2nd year at Seminary)?  The “cloud” over the 2nd year is getting ready for our vicarage. We’ll meet with the placement director in October and will find out the location in April! So there will be lots of hypothetical conversations, wishlists and prayers leading up to that!  Otherwise, I’m excited that we’ll be just minutes away from our church and school. I hope to get our whole family to matins more weekdays than not and Canon will begin a first communion class this ...

22 weeks (5 months)

this kid cracks me up Just like every mom, I say this every month, but I can't believe he is already 5 months! I'm not going to lie, this event has really caused me to kick my mommy-ness into gear. It is time to get this kid together, ha! So this week I have been really intentional about making sure we get lots of tummy time in, practicing rolling over, lots of time in the bumbo chair and on the couch sitting up and being super silly to pull out those giggles! And honestly, we're having the best time! Not that I wasn't doing these things before, but I had a bit more laid back approach assuming that he'll just learn things on his own. And he will, but now I'm just more up in his face pushing him along! We got over being sick, for the most part, at the end of last week. Since he had been sick, I'd been rocking him a lot more, going into his room during naps/nighttime almost every time he cried, putting the pacifier back in his mouth, etc. Well, let me t...

Augustine Oliver Schultz

Early November 9th, we welcomed our fourth son, Augustine Oliver Schultz into the world! He was another scheduled c-section, at 39 weeks and 1 day. He weighed 9lbs 1oz, coming in 2nd only to Ben in terms of birth weight! My mom came into town the Tuesday beforehand and we checked lots of things off our list. With the exception of organizing clothes (thanks friends!), I had literally done nothing to get ready. We cleaned the room that will become his bedroom, separated clothes and swaddles, bought a changing table/dresser combo and she even gifted us a deep freezer! It was a very productive 2 1/2 days! The night before we continued a tradition of eating out at a mexican restaurant. Then came home and did all our normal bedtime routines. The boys knew that when they woke up they would be with my mom and we would be at the hospital. Before we all went to bed, we ended up around the dining table brainstorming more names. Going into the summer/fall we were somewhat set on Ari August...
